The count is now at eight schools who have forfeited girls volleyball games against Jurupa Valley High School due to that school’s inclusion of a male on their team.
It gets more interesting because three girls on the Jurupa Valley team have filed a lawsuit to get the boy off their team. One, judging by the picture is Muslim so the religious component is now at play as well.
In the lawsuit, meanwhile, Hernandez is accused of sexual harassment.
‘Beyond the locker room, A.H. engaged in unwelcomed and offensive contact, including slapping and/or placing his hands on female players’ buttocks, including Plaintiffs, during practices, games, and huddles,’ read the filing.
On the court, the result was unsurprisingly obvious: Jurupa Valley won. After a close first set in which Jurupa came back to win 25-23, Hernandez and the Jaguars dominated the second set. Frequently jumping higher than any of the female players, with more velocity on spikes and serves, Hernandez was clearly stronger and taller than the females on the Chaffey side.
Fittingly, Hernandez scored the clinching 25th point in that second set, with a spike that carried too much speed for any of the Chaffey players to return.
And none of the parents could say who had been consulted before putting their girls in danger of serious injury. And it’s odd how Chaffey got added to the schedule–it was pretty last minute but Jurupa Valley is having to go farther afield to find schools that will play against them. All because of one mentally ill boy and his mentally ill mother (guessing the mother is the problem).
Hopefully the trend will continue and any opposing team of Jurupa Valley’s schedule will continue to forfeit. It’s not fair to the actual girls on the team, who signed up to play, but hopefully their parents will start getting involved as well.
