FDA finally doing its job

With the departure of Demetre Daskalakis from the CDC, the FDA under Dr Marty Makary is now able to get VAERS data and is investigating a possible 25 child deaths from the covid shots (ht: B).

The FDA commissioner also noted that when asked for data about the potential link to myocarditis, a swelling of heart tissue related to the vaccination, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention blocked such requests and made excuses.

“It was those individuals who resigned from the CDC, that were in leadership, that gave us the hard time about getting the data,” he said. “We want to get good data so people can make … a risk-benefit analysis for their age group. We shouldn’t be using dogma to say everybody should get [a COVID vaccine], and regardless of your circumstance.”

The FDA is doing the additional work to follow up on the VAERS information:

FDA Commissioner Dr Marty Makary told CNN last week that officials were investigating reports of possible childhood deaths linked to the vaccine, including reviewing autopsy reports and interviewing patients’ families.

The American Academy of Pediatrics thinks that all babies and children should be getting the covid shots.

And a disclaimer of :

‘A partnership does not imply endorsement of an organization’s policies, products, or services and only begins after carefully reviewing factors such as corporate citizenship, shared values, and policy alignment.’

I think is ass-covering lip service (or would that be just plain ass-kissing?) when their ‘partners’ include: Pfizer, Abbott, Moderna, and Merck.

It’ll be interesting to see what the FDA report says after actually looking at and investigating data.

ETA per the below: The FDA is now bringing the hammer down on deceptive drug ads.

Despite widespread violations, the FDA has been increasingly lax and reactive in its enforcement approach over the last few decades. The FDA used to send more than a hundred warning letters each year, and misleading ads were rare. But over time, enforcement waned and the number of warning letters sent to pharmaceutical companies dropped to one in 2023 and zero in 2024.

And it’s about time. The memes about pharma commercials are scathing because they hit the mark, IMO.

  1. Moderna now lists myocarditis as a “Possible but Rare” side effect for it’s latest vaccine in the radio ads.

  2. B–The FDA is now also cracking down on deceptive ads: https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-launches-crackdown-deceptive-drug-advertising

Moderna is just the first in a line of many who are going to have to beef up their commercials.

  3. When the people who man the FDA/CDC are getting royalty payments from patents on drugs manufactured by big pharma, is it any wonder that they hide data detrimental to the continued use of those drugs?

When the people that man the FDA/CDC have a revolving door to jobs at big pharma, is it any wonder that so many drugs are approved for use DESPITE there being serious side effects?

Ever listen to the drug commercials on TV that include a list of side effects and wonder “why would I ever take that, the cure sounds worse than the disease”?

  4. Extending what Nemo said, I was on the debate team in high school in the early 1980s. The running joke was that you could never trust any smoking statistics coming out of the Tobacco Institute (for obvious reasons). It’s funny how the people that wouldn’t accept statistics from the Tobacco Institute now accept statistics coming out of the CDC and FDA.

  5. Advertisements (propaganda) for drugs insinuate that neither the patient nor the physician would know the best course of treatment for any disease without suggestions from a manufacturer. There is no good parallel example that I can think of to compare to this absurd racket. It puts me in a mind of a mafia thug telling you, ” hey- nice place you have here- sure would be a shame if anything were to happen to it”. The ads seem predatory.

  6. The infection between the genitals, and anus, is what got my attention during one commercial. That alone should require the pharmaceutical company to spend at least half of the commercial explaining how that can kill you.

  8. Nemo–The revolving door has led to corruption. And yes, some of those side effects that they do bother to list are frightening.

Unferth–It’s habit and people not realizing how badly they’ve been co-opted.

    TRoy–They definitely are predatory.

jess–That one caught my attention as well.

Madam–Yes, they should be the testers, right?
