It’s honestly sad to me that when I read a headline like the below, I am relieved.
BREAKING: D.C. Circuit Stays Lower Court Injunction – Fire at Will At Voice of America
Because there shouldn’t have been a lower court injunction in the first place.
Judges from lower courts all the way up to the Supremes (remember when Roberts gave his statement about impeaching judges?) have developed a god complex, IMO. The headlines are full of judges stymying the actions of the Executive Branch–there’s a new one every day (usually more than one). They are a check, not a replacement for either of the other two branches but they don’t seem to understand that. And they aren’t using the Constitution as their litmus–it seems that most of this new slough of rulings are based on politics or personal beliefs.
At election time, judges are generally ignored or people just choose to keep them in place. So the rot is allowed to stay and grow.
From the President of El Salvador:
El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele has called for the impeachment of corrupt judges, stating that failure to do so would prevent the country from being fixed. He warned that these judges could form a ‘judicial dictatorship’ that would obstruct necessary reforms and protect the systemic corruption that enabled their rise to power. In multiple statements, Bukele emphasized the need to remove corrupt judges, attorneys, and prosecutors to restore integrity in the judicial system and facilitate reforms in the country.
He’s got a point and we’re seeing it in action now.
