So it used to be that the press folks who got to go on Air Force One and into the Oval office were chosen by the White House Correspondents’ Association (current President of the Association, Eugene Daniels, worked for Politico and just joined MSNBC, if that tells you anything).
As a reminder, this is the same WHCA that said nothing when for four years, the Biden’s staffers controlled who got to ask what questions. Which makes Daniels’ quote even more laughable:
“It suggests the government will choose the journalists who cover the president,” Daniels added. “In a free country, leaders must not be able to choose their own press corps.”
But this White House has decided that they are going to directly choose who gets close to the President, rather than some gatekeeping organization who would naturally choose their own ilk for those parties.
Such as their current message about DOGE employees resigning (spoiler alert, it ain’t what it seems). The message seems to imply that Musk’s nerd army is rebelling on Constitutional grounds. However, the twenty-one staffers who are making such a big splash, thanks to the MSM such as the butt-hurt Associated Press, pre-dated Trump’s election and the re-naming/re-purposing of the United States Digital Service into DoGE.
However much you hate the mainstream media, it isn’t enough.
