The NCAA was hiding behind Biden

Now that President Trump has issued his Executive Order to keep men out of women’s sports, the NCAA has finally fallen into line.

From the NCAA announcement:

“We strongly believe that clear, consistent and uniform eligibility standards would best serve today’s student-athletes instead of a patchwork of conflicting state laws and court decisions,” Charlie Baker, the president of the N.C.A.A., said in a statement. “To that end, President Trump’s order provides a clear, national standard.”

It was pretty clear they were hedging their bets in December when Charlie Baker, the head of the NCAA went before the House:

“We’re a national governing body, and we follow federal law,” he said, adding that he’d be open to working with Congress to create a “federal standard” for eligibility.

“Part of our challenge is dealing with a very murky set of court decisions at the state and federal level around this issue, which creates a certain lack of clarity around our policy because our policy ultimately needs to comply with federal policy,” Baker said.

Of course they has wussed out and delegated this type of thing to individual sports governing bodies because they wanted to have their cake and eat it too.

Of course they’ve still got some lawsuits that have been filed against them by swimmers who had to go up against Will Thomas. The NCAA is included in a lawsuit that was also filed against UPENN and others.

The swimmers, Grace Estabrook, Margot Kaczorowski, and Ellen Holmquist filed a lawsuit against UPenn, Harvard, the NCAA, and the Ivy League Council of Presidents over having to share a team locker room with Lia Thomas, an allegedly transgender swimmer.

Thomas was not named as a defendant in the lawsuit, Fox News reported, but the women still claimed that UPenn violated their Title IX rights and was engaged in discrimination by allowing Thomas to compete with and against women.

The lawsuit also showed the women claimed the institutions “injured them and violated federal law,” while their experiences sharing changing rooms with Thomas left them “repeatedly emotionally traumatized.”

What’s worse, is they were gaslit and told they were the ones who had a problem–not the man who was allowed to be in their changing rooms or the assholes who allowed it.

They were told to go to the LGBTQ center if they felt their natural feelings about being forced to both change in front of a man and seeing him naked was a problem.

Seriously.

  1. Poltroons… That this is even an “issue” just boggles the mind. That it has resulted in this level of legal malarkey is both mind bending and really, when you think on it long enough, downright sad.
