Quotas lead to mistakes and tragedy

I’ve changed the title on this post a couple of times.  The incompetence and/or malice associated with what happened at Butler, PA did lead to the loss of life, just not the one they probably sought.

I don’t have the knowledge to look at wind or rifles or such.  I do have the experience to note incompetence and when people are in the wrong job.  So I am going to concentrate on that.

****

Sky News Australia went there.  The female Secret Service agents, including the head of the Secret Service screwed the pooch, almost lost us a former President and present Presidential candidate, and looked like a bunch of Keystone Cops in the process.

There’s more than one meme going around with the one agent cowering behind the podium while the male agents piled on and did their jobs.  Then, the video showing the female agents outside Trump’s vehicle trying to figure out how to re-holster their firearms, put on their sunglasses, and fix their jackets would be fucking laughable if it wasn’t pathetic and dangerous.
There is no way that a woman can do the job of a man in this case.  None.  They don’t have the strength or size necessary and it does look like standards were lowered just to make a quota.  Just a fact.
As a note, the one woman with the blonde bun did her job as best she could considering her size.  She was in front of Trump, covering center of mass and she helped get him into the SUV while the other two wandered in circles.

In a CBS News interview, Cheatle underscored the significance of attracting diverse candidates and ensuring opportunities for all, with a particular focus on women. The Secret Service has set a goal for women to comprise 30 percent of its recruits by 2030.

…

A report by The Post attributes Cheatle’s appointment largely to a close relationship with First Lady Jill Biden. Cheatle, 53, became the second woman to head the presidential protection agency and assumed the non-Senate-confirmed position in August 2022, following a three-year tenure as senior director of global security at PepsiCo, as mentioned in her official bio.

And she is refusing to step down despite this travesty that happened under her watch.  And my tin foil hat brain wonders about why it happened considering her connection to Jill Biden.

This news (about the Jill Biden connection) will no doubt stir further controversy given past reports that Secret Service members were pulled off Trump’s detail to bolster a Jill Biden appearance in Pennsylvania on the same day. It’s also emblematic of the Biden administration’s larger failures. Cheatle is a strong supporter of DEI, having pledged for the Secret Service to be 30 percent female by 2030 as part of a “diversity” push. Unmentioned was why someone’s sex is more important than simply hiring the most capable people available, and that includes physical stature given the job at hand.

This madness must stop.  When you make a quota on a particular characteristic, you are going to bring in unqualified people.  You are going to change an organization in a fundamental way that is not going to be for the better.

  2. the point is to keep the standards. when a woman is good at it, fine. Plenty of woman are competent at different things. The problem is quotas

  3. B–I modified the title and explained in the post. I believe there was a mix of incompetence and true malice. The Secret Service should have been double-checking everything and should have noticed that roof was open. And the 'excuse' that it was a sloped roof was ludicrous. It was a hit/assassination attempt, pure and simple.Avraham–Agree. Standards are standards and shouldn't be lowered to meet a quota. And standards need to meet the needs of the job–no 5'4″ women covering a 6'+ man. They just physically don't have the mass to do it.

  8. Way back in the day, some forty years ago, I dabbled with the thought of joining the Secret Service after college. I was stopped by two things. You had to have an accounting degree (part of treasury) and be at least six foot tall. I was not qualified on either criteria. Of course you needed to be big enough to cover your charge. Now it is all about diversity. Joe
