Wow! Goodness, that was hard to watch. And it was really hard to literally watch since rumble went down a couple of minutes before the start. It finally came back but the timing was interesting.
I expected Biden to be lit to the gills on uppers, but he even came out slow. I’m still not sure he didn’t have notes on his podium due to the way he kept looking down. And one of the other CNN hosts intimated that he even had the questions beforehand:
CNN’s Erin Burnett on Joe Biden’s debate performance: “He goes through six days of preparation at camp David… They know the rules. He practices with the mics. He knows every one of these questions is coming and yet he couldn‘t fill the time.”
Of course that wouldn’t be the first time THAT’s happened, would it?
And Biden just kept lobbing stuff up for Trump to spike in–when he mentioned Afghanistan, it was a total gimme. Ditto regarding Medicare and Social Security. And he couldn’t hold onto a thought or verbalize. And being reduced to name-calling because he had nothing else. And the flat out lies. I guess the Border Patrol Union jumped all over his comment in real time when he said that the border patrol supported him with a big ol’ negatory on X.
I do gotta ask though: what the hell was up with the big diatribe about women and girls being raped by their in-laws, brothers and sisters(?!?), etc. etc. during the abortion question? Creepy!
Trump did basically ignore some questions I think for two reasons: 1) they were gotcha questions really not worth addressing, and 2) he had points to make. But he stayed on target, came out with some zingers and made his case. We are a weaker country due to the damage done by the folks holding Biden’s strings. Social Security is going bankrupt due to the extra millions of mouths that didn’t feed into it. Unemployment is rampant except for illegals. The cost of living is through the roof. That’s all on Biden’s shadow government.
CNN, while definitely running block for Biden by not showing him a lot and odd cut offs, did better than I thought they would (the bar was very low). I thought it was funny/interesting that they were firmly holding to the ‘Former President’ when talking to Trump until they forgot in the middle of the debate and started referring to him as President Trump. I think it was an unconscious slip since he definitely was holding the room.
My post-debate bet is that Newsom is now the heir apparent with Big Mike as VP. You’ve heard it here first, folks.
On a different note: Both of my parents were in memory care units, therefore I spent a lot of time with them in memory care units. I know the look and the actions of people with dementia. And Joe has it bad. What they are doing is elder abuse. And yes, even when he was supposedly lucid back in the day in the Senate, he did a lot of damage to this country. But it’s very sad what they are doing to him, whether or not he karmically deserves it.
B did a stream of consciousness commentary during the debate that you should check out.
