The Mayor of New York City has had a rude awakening.
“We underestimated the impact of the migrant and asylum-seeker issue that’s impacting major cities in this country,” the Democrat said.
I have to say to that is ‘duh shit and really?’. It’s real easy to sit back and declare your city to be a sanctuary for illegals–it’s another thing to have to actually come through once they are at your door.
Because according to the Dem mindset, previously it was just those mouth breathing rednecks in red states that had to bear the cost, not dazzling urban areas of culture and refinement.
And NYC has only gotten a fraction of the illegals–150,000 out of an estimated 10 MILLION.
Chicago only has 13,000 in shelters and, from personal experience, there are illegals on almost every corner selling candy and panhandling. And there’s a corresponding rise in crime.
Cities outside of Chicago who took in illegals (or had them shipped to them by former Mayor Lori Lightfoot), are done. At the end of January, their populations are also getting shipped out to anywhere that isn’t Oak Park, Rosemont, or Cicero.
Both of these cities are dealing with a pittance of what border cities in Texas and Arizona are fielding.
Instead of housing them, putting them on buses back over the border (or even just loading of planes and returning them to their point of origin would be a better call. And it would show the ones thinking about making the trip that it might not be worth it.
