I am a total Steve Martin fan. This movie’s premise has Vinnie, Martin’s character, shuffled off by Witness Protection to a picturesque small town–definitely not to the taste of a born and raised New Yorker. Rick Moranis is the perfect straight man as Vinnie’s federal handler, complementing Martin’s genius.
Not going to tell you anything more, because you just have to watch it.
One of my all time favorite comedies. I've watched it so many times that I could have been an understudy for any of the characters….

Amazing movie.Cederq–Cheesy come-on lines work precisely because they are cheesy.Anon–That, and when Vinnie's family separates him from Barney. But my favorite scene was when Barney bum-rushed his girlfriend's ex-husband out the door.

Filmed in Atascadero, CA. I used to live there when there when it was unincorporated and about 4,000 people.
